Sony FE 200-600mm F5.6-6.3 G OSS Review
PhotographyBlog has completed their review of the Sony FE 200-600mm F5.6-6.3 G OSS. They find the G series lens to be outstanding and give it a resounding 5 out of 5 stars. You can't get better than that.
B&H declares this lens a hot seller and also has a note that this is a limited quantity. So if you want one, get it now before it gets back ordered.
They declare it an essential lens for the Sony ecosystem and rank the rating details as;
|Value for money
Features of the lens are;
- E-Mount Lens/Full-Frame Format
- Aperture Range: f/5.6 to f/36
- Five ED Elements, One Aspherical Element
- Nano AR Coating and Fluorine Coating
So what do they have to say about the lens? Everything positive, and their conclusions are;
It might not have the coveted "GM" moniker as part of its name, but in all other regards the new FE 200-600mm F5.6-6.3 G OSS is a must-buy lens for all Sony Alpha shooter who are remotely interested in super-telephoto subjects.
Cheaper than the Sony FE 100-400mm F4.5–5.6 GM OSS and offering a longer reach, to our eyes the new FE 200-600mm F5.6-6.3 G OSS is just as sharp in the centre and at the edges, throughout the focal range. There is more noticeable distortion, though, although nothing that can't be corrected in post-processing.
Sure, it's a little bit slower in terms of the maximum aperture that's available, but the extra reach and extra aperture blades (11 versus 9) mostly make up for this.
