Sony 8K IMX671 in the X-H2?
Fujirumors has leaked a Sony datasheet from an upcoming sensor the IMX671AQR. The hypothesis is that it may appear in the upcoming X-H2.
A few things, it's not just about the sensor, is how quickly the encoders and processors can manage the data and push it out to super fast cards. Processing 8K is 4 times as much as processing 4K. Currently, Fujifilm can do 4K60p oversampled with is extremely close to the processing rate required for 8K30p so it's most likely doable for Fujifilm without any additional cooling, etc.
I would have thought expected Fujifilm to reach 6k60 before reaching 8K but they could be doing a Canon jump and moving directly from 4K to 8K.
Another element is that we don't' know when this IMX671AQR sensor will be ready for commercialization. It hasn't made it into Sony's official list yet.
