Nikon pulls out of NAB

Nikon has decided not to participate at NAB due to COVID-19.

This was a press release released by Nikon USA and it states;

MELVILLE, NY – Nikon's first priority is always the health and safety of our employees, partners and customers. As we continue to closely monitor and gauge the impact of COVID-19, Nikon Inc. and MRMC, a Nikon Group company, have made the decision not to participate in NAB 2020. We will continue to closely evaluate our travel policies, programs and activities to mitigate risk.

Nikon now, has also pulled out of Photokina 2020 for unrelated reasons.  Nikon will have no presence between the PhotographyShow in the UK this month and possibly September.   Meanwhile Canon is going ahead with plans for the R5 which will certainly be coming out at NAB demonstrating it's 8K video.

One has to wonder is this solely because of the COVID-19 or are financial factors playing a part here.
