Nikon patents an APS-C version of the Z-mount camera

In Japan Patent Application 2018-15571, and Registered patent D1635488, Nikon has patented to what appears to be an APS-C mirrorless camera using the Z mount.

What remains to be seen will Nikon enter the very competitive APS-C mirrorless market?  Given their declining sales, you'd have to think that they will.
