BCN Reports Canon's marketshare goes up, Sony wins on value
BCN reports that since July Canon's market share for mirrorless in Japan, has steadily increased from around 21% to its current market share of nearly 40%.
This, BCN, notes is based upon strong sales of the EOS-M M50 (KISS-M) which continues to dominate Japan markets.
In second place is Sony, however, it should be noted that Sony, even though they are in second place in terms of units are most likely close to, or exceeding Canon's market share if you consider it by value. The two cameras that Sony has in the top 10 are the A7 III and the A6400 which both sell for more than the M50.
All in all, the market share in Japan for September in terms of mirrorless grew by 119%, with the top three manufacturers all posting impressive gains over a year ago (Canon 119.1%, Sony 139.1% and Olympus 119.2%)
In the chart, blue is Canon, red is Sony, and green is Olympus.
